【Bayashi】What made him start TikTok
After the company went out of business and he became unemployed, he decided to return to his family home in Gunma Prefecture in Japan.
While thinking about what he should do next, he suddenly came up with the idea of starting a YouTube channel.
As a former personal trainer at a gym, Bayashi had experience running a YouTube channel as a PR representative for the gym. With basic video editing skills, he decided to give it a try on his own.
He noticed the trend of ASMR (stimulation received from cooking and chopping sounds) at that time, and launched his YouTube channel in October 2019.
At that time, there were zero subscribers and only about 100 views continued.
His video featuring raw salmon sliced thinly and mixed with egg yolk went viral overseas and made him an overnight sensation.
However, with popularity came problems. Bayashi’s TikTok and YouTube accounts were both hacked by someone.
His TikTok account was recovered by changing the password, but the YouTube account could not be recovered.
